I'm doing a total color change myself at the moment.. I'm talking full interior out/spray the jambs, etc, etc.. everything.. bascially here's some answers..
blue.. blues can be fairly expensive as far as paint goes.. the higher the "cobalt" content the more they cost to make/mix... (more cobalt is closer to a true blue) I priced a couple of blues that surprised me in their prices.. like say the Nogaro blue for the Audi S4.. it's $500 a gallon shop price from the local PPG dealer and thats just the paint. you still need all the reducers (if you choose to use them) and hardeners.. clear coat, etc... Also watch for paints that are a "true" pearl.. that is they have pearl in them or part of their clear coat (such as on the 3rd gen max color.. I sanded the clear off mine and whalla.. its just "oatmeal" :)...) a pearl adds a little price to the cost of a paint as well. Some paints however are labeled as a pearl and are acutally a metallic but the color name/code indicates they are a pearl. Metallic's also cost more to mix (not as much as pearl usually though) as well.
I'm going to assume your going to get a shop to paint it for you.. which leads me to a couple of questions you REALLY need to ask yourself..
1) How much are you willing to spend?? A good paint job can cost $1000+..
2) If you want a REAL color change.. do you want to do the jambs, underhood, etc.. if so add another nice chunk of $$$ to your price.. its expensive because they have to strip most of the interior and lots of other junk off to do the job properly
After you answer those two questions honestly.. come back and ask opinions on paint colors.. because you may find while it only costs $1000 to get your car sprayed back with white (or whatever it is) it may cost the better part of $3K+ to get a total color change to the color "of your choice".... so money is really the big question here.. how much are you wiling to spend :)
